Module O2: Traffic Surveys and Modelling
Module Leader: Pieter Euser
Pieter Euser studied Traffic Engineering at the Noordelijke Hogeschool Leeuwarden and is now a lecturer at the Traffic Division of that same institution. His main areas are traffic surveys and transportation modelling.
Aim of the Module
To develop an understanding of data collection and traffic modelling techniques to facilitate the evaluation of changes in land use or transport networks.
Contents
Survey planning and management
Measuring volume speed
Origin - destination and route choice surveys
Trip generation surveys
Parking surveys
Data analysis
Transport models
Trip generation and distribution
Modal split
Trip assignment
Developments in transport models
Learning Outcomes
To analyse the accuracy of various types of traffic data and to ensure its statistical relevance.
To explain methods of traffic count surveys using various techniques and equipment.
To design surveys and zone study areas for the production of suitable trip matrices.
To discuss and compare principal methods of trip generation and attraction.
