Module O3: Highway Network Planning and Design
Module Leader: Rien Smalheer
The module leader for this module is Rien Smalheer, university teacher on the Academy for Urban Development, Logistics and Mobility
of the Breda University of Applied Sciences. He is educated in Civil Engineering and experienced in planning, Traffic analysis
design and consultation and has worked as designer, policy formulator and project manager in organisations of central and regional government.
The original author of this module was Gavin MacPherson, formerly Lecturer in the School of Environment and Development at Sheffield Hallam University.
The notes for for Unit 8, Bicycles and Pedestrians, were compiled with the assistance of Matthew Williams, who works as a part-time consultant for Sustrans in the East of England.
