The Module Leader for this module is Bruce Nowell. Bruce is an independent transport consultant, and works on projects in both the highways and rail sectors.
Key projects on which Bruce has worked in recent years include the M42 Active Traffic Management pilot project, and the design and development of new
costumer information systems at stations such as London Kings Cross and London Victoria. This Module was originally developed for EUROconnect by Gavin MsPherson and supplemented by

To describe the current political and economic structures within which transport investment decisions are made in the European Union member states.
To prepare a statement on the role of transport in the wider physical and social environment covering the nature of the impacts caused by transport infrastructure and vehicles.
To measure the scale of these impacts and suggest appropriate measures to minimise or circumvent undesirable consequences resulting from decisions concerning transport.
To apply standard methodology including cost/benefit analysis and discounting techniques as an aid to decision making in transport planning.
