C5: Public Transport Integration
Module Leader: Tim Asperges
Tim Asperges graduated as a civil engineer-urban planner in 1996. Since 2005 he is co-ordinating the applied research department of the transport research institute (IMOB) of the Hasselt University.
He is also a lecturer at the BaMa education in traffic sciences at the Hasselt University for urban planning and public transport
Aim of the Module
To develop the processes and techniques for the integrated planning of public transport systems.

Economy of the transport system: efficiency, financing and competition
Spatial planning of the environment: density, patterns and land use
Traveller's need for transport: origin/destination, chain and travel costs
Characteristics of the public transport system: network, operation and fares
Learning Outcomes
To define and identify the major aspects in public transport integration.
To explain and analyse the relationship between these aspects and integration.
To develop integrated public transport systems.
